Special Course
Italian language and visual arts
The course offers foreign students the opportunity of discovering the Italian language through an artistic plan. The course will be made up by a mix of fundamental theory and in lab activities; on regards to the subject of “Nude Art”, ceramics and painting. The course will also incorporate, an Italian language course exclusive for art, and different visits around the area, which will provide the participants with the knowledge to develop the artistic techniques required.

Entry requirements: a minimum knowledge of Italian language and artistic background.
Location
The course will be hold at the University for Foreigners of Perugia (language lessons) and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Perugia (laboratory).
Educational Program
The course will have a length of 80 hours total. Lessons will take place from Monday to Friday.
- Italian language (40 hours, under the care of the University for Foreigners of Perugia)
The language course have the intentions of building up the students with the adequate skills to speak and comprehend the subject been studied; a goal that will be accomplish throughout a series of written and oral exercises. - Artistic Lab (40 hours under the care of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Perugia)
1. Ceramics - professor: Prof. Giulio Busti, Director of the “Museo della Ceramica di Deruta”
The ceramics sculpture course has the aim of preparing the students with the capability to express as well as understand fundamental techniques of art. The participants will discover techniques of decorating and working with different type of clay. Technique for printing, decorating clay, techniques of making and washing or ironing sheets, decoration of majolica, decoration and simmering Raku.
2. Scuola Libera del Nudo “School of Nude” - professor: Prof. Wilma Lok The course has the aim of teaching the students specific techniques for designing with a living model. There would be lessons of artistic anatomy of the skeleton, and the muscles of the human body. There would also be lessons of pencil designing, charcoal drawing, and with watercolors painting.
3. Painting – professor: Prof. Graziano Marini The course has the aim of highlighting the importance of colours in the history of Italian painting due to strong elements: light, space and shape. - Cultural visits:
Deruta and Todi (July 9th, 2011)
Assisi (July 16th, 2011)
At the end of the course the students will receive an attendance certificate.
