Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILCs)

EILCs 2012-2013

The Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILC) are specialised courses in less widely used and less taught languages organised in the countries where these languages are spoken.

The initiative, co-financed by the European Commission, offers Erasmus students the opportunity to study for one month in the country itself, the language of the community before starting the true Erasmus period.

Who can participate

The EILCs are organised for two levels of linguistic knowledge (level I: beginners; level II: intermediate) for all of those students who take part in the LLP/Erasmus programme, and who have been accepted to study in Italy.

Comenius Language Assistants (future language teachers) can also participate, provided that there is a surplus of places on the course.

How

The application must be officially submitted by the Erasmus office/Erasmus coordinator of the Home University by the means of the new online application procedure within the dates defined for each academic year (by the 1 June 2012 for the summer period, by the 31st October 2012 for the winter period).
Further information on courses and application forms are available on the web site of the European Community http://ec.europa.eu/education/programmes/llp/erasmus/eilc/index_en.html

Cost

Selected applicants do not have to pay the host Institution any kind of tuition fee. Apart from the Erasmus grant, a supplementary mobility grant for participating in EILC may be awarded and paid by the respective sending Higher education institution.

When

The University for Foreigners Perugia organises these courses together with the Italian LLP/Erasmus Agency over two periods: a) summer (during the months of July, August and September) specially designed for students with scholarships for the first six months; b) winter (during the months of January and February) specially designed for students with scholarships for the second six months. Instructions for completing the application form

The University for Foreigners Perugia has introduced for the edition 2012/13 a new ONLINE procedure for the submission of the Eilcs application forms. The procedure consists of 2 necessary steps:

  • Online completion of the application form;
  • Official confirmation of the Erasmus coordinator of the Home University.

Upon submission of the online application form, the Erasmus Home coordinator indicated in the application will receive by e-mail the necessary instructions to finalize the submission. Only after the official confirmation the applications will be officially submitted to the University for Foreigners Perugia.

Please note:

  • The application does not automatically entitle the student to participate in the Eilcs; all the applications regularly received by the relevant deadline will be processed by the Erasmus/Eilcs office of the University for Foreigners Perugia. Selected students will receive their official invitation and all relevant information about their stay in due time;
  • Application not confirmed by the Erasmus coordinators will not be processed;
  • Late applicants may be considered on a waiting list;
  • When submitting the application form to the Organising Institutions, applicants are allowed to indicate only one of them as first choice; double applications will be automatically deleted;
  • The total amount of available places for the Eilcs in Perugia is around 450.

Assessment

The regular attendance of the course and the final examination (written and oral) awards the student 6 ECTS credits.
